been a while, son!
it's been a long while since i've posted. reason for that is because of the insane amount of things i've been doing (ie: working & sleeping). it's all good though because the end result is a great pay check and the fulfillment of moving one step closer to being a grown up (DOT DOT DOT...LOL!!). so this past week has been hectic at work, as i stated previously, having to wake up in the wee hours of the morning to drive 40 minutes to work and then leave work and sit in an hour's worth of that after work traffic commute. i'd say that the biggest highlights of my week were:
-hanging out/getting lost in the city with kayy and then later bringing her to meet some hawaii folks of mine..lol.
-getting my cell phone back (i forgot my phone in someones car, if you hadn't already known)
-getting to see my nelly and helping her go around vallejo to surprise the rest of her family.
so here's to having a well deserved 3 day weekend off from work.
ps. hollur if you're interested in setting up a shoot sometime.

allow me to introduce my talented team. (part duex)
nicole mercado has been working with me since i first decided to get into photography in 2004. originally from the bay area, she has relocated to brooklyn, ny. while here in the bay area, she established an enormous clientele from doing weddings to photoshoots. she attended the cosmetology program at skyline college and once receiving her license here in california, she set her sights out for new york. she moved to new york in 2007 and attended make up designory in soho. she is now working on projects varying from ny fashion week to indie films. if you're in need of a make up artist in the ny area, i highly recommend her for sure.

NEVER FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM.
kalihi is were i was raised for 18 years of my life. a little area pretty much in the middle of honolulu. went to kalihi kai elementary then to kalakaua INTERMEDIATE (yah, its called middle school now but not when i was there.) and finally to farrinton high school. a lot of people ask "why'd you move from hawaii?" my response has always been "because its boring there." when i take a step back and re-evaluate the situation, its not because it was boring. it was more because i needed to move on to the next chapter of my life. don't get me wrong, i do miss the friends and family there. if i stayed there, i probably wouldn't have found a passion for photography by going to school. instead of going to school, i'm pretty sure i would have just worked pay check to pay check. so this post is to acknowledge where i came from and the place that helped mold me to become the person i am. its kind of corny, but "HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS."
HAWAII GIRLS..TO DA MAX!!
this is sort of a hawaiian version of the popular youtube video "unforgivable".
PAYDAYS ARE THE BEST.

DITA VON TEESE and some other shit.
this book is going on my christmas list. photography in this book is frrrrrrreeesh! on another note, i do ME! i do not do me as SOMEONE ELSE, if that makes any sense. don't judge me because i have no intentions of judging you. my attitude is not going to change because my attitude reflects my current mood. if myspace were real and we could walk around with current moods above our heads to give people an idea of how we're feeling at that moment, then wouldn't we all just be fine and dandy? ha!

TIME IS MONEY.
a big pet peeve of mine is when people are all talk and no go. for example, i've taken time off from work to refocus on my photography. that means if i book a shoot or plan my day around a person, i expect them to be there for it. not answering calls or texts is NOT okay and that just shows he/she has no consideration of my time, the time that i've put aside for the person. if i wanted to waste day and do nothing, i wouldn't have bothered to schedule something in that day.
